LED Tail Lights

(anything you attempt, you are doing under your own skill, and I am not responsible for your actions, this is just a guide for how I did my work)

I wanted to attempt something different. Halo LED taillights. But do it a way that you don't see each individual LED but instead a ring.

I am not sure how it will turn out. but as my MR2 is down for the moment, i thought i would fiddle with her.

I started out taking two drill bits a 4inch and 2.5inch, and a sheet of Lexan.

Drill the larger circle.

Then the smaller circle.

Then you can sand it down to make it foggy.

I ordered (4) 90mm LED rings.

To disassemble your taillights, take your tail lights out.

I set my stove between 150 and 200, for and put the taillights in for 15min.

Use gloves as it will be HOT to take the headlights out of the oven.

Push back the tabs on the back of the taillights with a flat head screwdriver (be careful not to chip the plastic).

Then pull the taillight lens gently off the housing, you may need to use the screwdriver to help pry it off, but be careful not to crack the lens.

Now the lens is off.

Got the LED rings inside, they look great! Half power (aka poor connection lol)

Full power

So far they look sweet, i need to do the other side, and then permanently make mounts, and wire it all up.

The circular sanded Lexan did not end up being used, as it really did not change the light disbursement.

I used a all purpose polyseamseal to mount the LEDs in.
I wired the LEDs into the stock harness retaining the JDM outside light up, then both when braking.

Test fitting them in.
